NATURE –

Amidst the citrus and fruit tree orchards of the Costa de Azahar, Alcossebre lies bordered by the mountains of the Sierra d Irta, and the sea, forming a contrasting landscape. Along its coastline there are five high quality beaches and numerous secluded coves. Alcossebre is a good base from which to explore the Columbretes Islands Nature Reserve. Trail paths run throughout the Sierra d’Irta in Alcossebre’s great outdoors. Other interesting places are the L’Estany wetlands at the southern-most tip of the town, and the sand dunes between El Cargador and La Romana beaches. In addition, for those who enjoy wildlife, the Estuary of the river Ebro (El Delta del Ebro) is barely an hour’s drive northwards.

NEARBY –

A breath-taking drive to the interior will take you to the medieval town of Morella, and for those willing to venture further a field, look out for the village of Tirig and nearby Palaeolithic shelter and caves with amazingly well kept paintings. Twenty minutes alongside the coast there’s Peniscola, another seaside town whose impressive medieval castle can be visited. Interesting cities nearby are Castellon with its beautiful historic centre, and beautiful Valencia, the 3rd largest city in Spain, host to the "City of Sciences" the largest Aquarium in Europe.

WATER AND THEME PARKS –

The best water parks is about 25 min. drive from Alcossebre in the town of Benicassim ("Acuarama"). There are two theme parks: "Port Aventura" at 1.5 hr drive north, and the one called "Terra Mitica" at a 2hr drive south.

GOLF –

There are two Championship class Golf courses within 45 mins drive. One called Panoramica, near the town of Vinaros, on the N340 road to Vinaros and then follow the N232 from where it is signposted. The second course is Mediterranio, south of Alcossebre on the motorway A7 towards Castellon North, junction 46, from where it is 10 min drive. There’s also a 9 hole course, north of Castellon near the port area.
