The House - Casa Monticulo
A beautiful house (sleeps up to 6) in a traditionally Spanish area of Spain's Costa Tropical.
This is a brand-new fully furnished and well-equipped house with spectacular views on the exclusive secure development of Fuentes de Almunecar situated about 5 mins by car from the resort of Almunecar. A car is recommended to reach the property and to get around, particularly on warm summer days when the walk back from the nearest beaches or the centre of town can be a challenge. The house is part of a block of 4 houses and is set out on 2 floors with unrestricted views from the lounge, master bedroom and sun terrace.
Please ask for the owners website for more photos and information
The house is very spacious and is set on 2 floors -
Top floor : 2 x twin bedrooms with wardrobes, 1 master bedroom with king-sized bed, fitted wardrobes and en-suite bathroom with shower, bath and bidet. Separate bathroom with shower and toilet.
Lower floor : Open plan lounge/dining room with patio doors leading onto the large terrace. Kitchen fully equipped with granite worktops, oven, ceramic hob, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher plus all utensils and crockery.
A separate utility room houses the washing machine and boiler and provides an extra toilet. Solar power provides plenty of hot water in the summer and a boiler is used in winter. Air conditioning keeps the house cool in summer and is used as a heater during the winter months. Lounge has a ceiling fan.
Terrace
The large sun terrace is perfect for dining and has table, chairs, parasol and barbeque.
Fuentes de Almunecar
Fuentes is set in lovely surroundings and has 2 magnificent swimming pools, one of which is panoramic and overflowing to give the effect of flowing into the sea. The grounds are landscaped with trees, flowers and waterfalls. Fuentes is protected by security guards for your own peace of mind.
Situated just 5 mins drive from the sea and the nearby coastal resort of Almuecar, Fuentes nestles between the sea and the impressive mountains of the Sierra Nevada. It is situated above the historical town of Almunecar, which is a typically Spanish town complete with Moorish castle and picturesque old district bustling with traditional Spanish shops and tapas bars.
The delightful cove of Tesorillo, the nearest beach is only 15 minutes walk away (1.4km). It is downhill all the way - so the walk back can be a challenge on very hot days!
There are over 25 local beaches in the Almunecar and La Herradura area.
To get the most out of this holiday, the surrounding area and the many interesting places to visit, a car would be an advantage.
The surrounding area
Almunecar itself is an historical Spanish town with a handsome Moorish castle. The most attractive part of Almunecar is the old pueblo which is mostly inaccessible by car. Simply wander around its streets filled with boutiques and tapas bars and take in the maze of narrow passageways.
To the west of the town lies the Punta de la Mona, a pineclad headland sheltering the attractive Marina del Este marina - a water sports base.
Also part of the Almunecar municipality is the pretty village and horseshoe-shaped bay of La Herradura with a superb long beach and a large selection of chiringuitos (or beach bars). There are also a number of watersports clubs. The beautiful bay of La Herradura is the envy of Almunecar and one of the prettiest bays along the south coast of Spain, and boasts a 2 km long sand beach. The village presents a typical aspect of whitewashed buildings climbing the gentle slopes of a small hill leading up from the beach.
Nerja/Frigliana
Nerja is a lovely popular resort about 20 minutes from Almunecar famous for its Balcon de Europa right in the centre and beautiful beaches. The Nerja caves are on the outskirts at nearby Maro. The attractive white village of Frigiliana built in the typical Andalucian style lies just above Nerja a short drive away
Salobrena
Known as the jewel of the Costa Tropical, Salobrena is a whitewashed township clinging to huge rock just back from the shoreline, topped by a Moorish castle and surrounded by lush sugar cane plantations.
Granada
Those who appreciate the heritage of Spain will love ancient Granada and its world famous Alhambra. Granada is one of the classic monumental cities of Andalucia and, at more than 700 metres above sea level, the highest.
Nature lovers are just minutes away from the natural park of Pena Escrita, the beautiful, unspoilt promontory of Cerro Gordo and superb walking in the Alpujarras.
Ski-ing in the Sierra Nevadas
Just over 1 hours drive away, the Sierra Nevada resort of Solynieve, Europes most southerly winter sports resort has skiing at an altitude of over 10,000 feet combined with brilliant sunshine most of the winter. When it doesnt snow, Sierra Nevada has one of Europes most advanced snowmaking systems.
