ALMOND HILL HOUSE is a stylish 200-year old farmhouse set in private olive and almond groves with mountain views and a large gated pool. Enjoy a rural location, just a 5 minute drive to town – with restaurants, banks and supermarkets – or a 25 minute walk. Sleeps up to 14 with the addition of the Jasmine Annex.

* Pick fresh fruit – almonds, figs, pomegranate, oranges, lemons and grapes

* Grab a book from the library and relax in the shade of 300 year-old olive trees

* Olive groves stretch into the distance and mountains rise up around the house

* WALKING – use maps and guidebooks provided or professional local guides

* PROFESSIONAL CYCLING AND MOUNTAIN BIKING - bikes can be delivered to the house and/or hire professional guides

* HORSE RIDING – for beginners, experienced riders and those with disabilities – off the beaten track with views to the Mediterranean

* WINTER SPORTS – Off-piste skiing or snow-shoeing locally with professional guides – or the ski-slopes are 75 minutes' away

AREA

* Prepare meals with fresh produce from the weekly market in Órgiva

* Plenty of shops locally including fishmongers, butchers and supermarkets

* Plenty of bars and restaurants locally - all serve free tapas with drinks

* Explore the beautiful Berber villages of Pampaneira, Bubion and Capilleira

* Drive higher up into the mountains and enjoy wine tastings at local bodegas

* Spend the day at the beach and a dip in the Mediterranean

* Enjoy the bars and shady squares of Granada, the backstreets of the Arab quarter and the stunning Alhambra

GETTING AROUND

* A car is recommended – but it's easy to get to Granada and Lanjarón by bus

* A 25 minute walk to town (2 kms) – 50 meters is down a goat track which may not be suitable for those with limited mobility. Torches provided for walking back at night. Children enjoy the walk, but of course, will take a bit longer.

CHILDREN WILL LOVE IT

* They will be surrounded by nature

* There's a smallholding with goats, chickens and geese at the top of the drive

* It's away from busy roads, the pool is gated, as is the lawned garden

ACCOMMODATION

* The main house sleeps up to 10 adults and 2 children

* 14 can be accommodated with the addition of the Jasmine Annex

* In cooler months (December to March), the house is most comfortable for up to 8 adults plus 2 children.

BEDROOMS (7 bedrooms/6 bathrooms) all double beds are king size.

* ORANGE: Double/twin, en-suite with shower-over-bath

* LEMON: Children´s twin/single adult room/small double – share ensuite with Orange/use main bathroom

* ALMOND: Double, en-suite with walk-in shower

* FIG: Small twin for younger children or single adult – share ensuite with Almond/use main bathroom

* WISTERIA: Double, en-suite with walk-in shower – private balcony and entrance

* OLIVE: Double or twin room, wet-room style en-suite, accessible – garden entrance

* JASMINE ANNEX: a large double or twin en-suite bedroom – extra £200 per week not suitable for children (antique furniture etc)
